On the day a company needs to restore data, it is already too late to discover that backups do not cover the right folders, that retention is too short, or that nobody knows how to run the recovery. That is exactly when many business leaders realize they had a tool, but not yet a real recovery capability. That is why the 3-2-1 rule remains useful. An SMB often has more servers, more data, more business applications, and more dependencies. Backups therefore need to be designed as an operating capability, not as a simple technical option.

Letting the same account administer production and backup
